We didn't invent this problem.
We researched it.

We spoke to 107 people in the Nigerian diaspora in the UK about how they support family back home — what works, and what quietly doesn't.

99%had supported someone in Nigeria in the past year
86.9%support people with food and groceries
67.2%would use a direct-purchase service for groceries, gifts, healthcare, utilities, airtime or appliances
55%said they would be likely to try it within six months

The clearest finding wasn't that money goes missing — it rarely does. It's that supporting someone far away takes more effort than it should. We're building a way to make supporting the same person easier every time.

You can — and for some things you should. Merakly isn't here to replace money transfers. It's for the times you already know what your support is meant to do: groceries for the month, a birthday gift, the household things that quietly run out. For most people cash is the fallback rather than the choice, and that gap is what we're built for.

We deliver to Lagos, Abeokuta and Ibadan to start with. If your family is somewhere else, tell us when you join early access — where people ask for us is how we decide where to go next.

Every order is photographed at the point of delivery and confirmed by the person receiving it. You get the photo and the confirmation, not just a tracking number.

Tell us. Everything listed on Merakly is available — we don't list what we can't supply. In the rare case a supplier lets us down after you've ordered, we contact you before changing anything, and you choose an alternative or we refund that item.

Tell us and we'll put it right with a replacement or a refund. You placed the order, so we settle it with you directly — your family never has to chase anything.

Vetted distributors and vendors we contract directly, with written quality standards covering condition, substitution and replacement. We don't use open marketplaces.

Merakly is currently a UK-based pre-incorporation project. A UK company will operate the service before launch, with payments in pounds and UK-hours support. Fulfilment will be handled by our Nigerian operation and its contracted partners.
